Why We're Building myBoardHub
If you've ever helped a student find a boarding house in the Philippines, you already know the process: a Facebook group here, a group chat there, a friend-of-a-friend who "knows a place," and a lot of back-and-forth messages just to find out if a room is even still available. Once you do find a place, the rest of the experience — paying rent, keeping track of receipts, getting updates from the owner — is usually just as scattered, often held together by GCash transfers, screenshots, and a notebook.
We started building myBoardHub because we kept seeing the same friction points, from both sides of the arrangement.
The Problem, From Both Sides
For students and parents, finding a boarding house near a university usually means piecing together information from multiple sources with no easy way to compare options side by side — price, amenities, house rules, and reviews from actual past tenants are rarely all in one place. Reserving a room often means sending a deposit to a stranger's personal account and hoping for the best.
For boarding house owners, managing a property without dedicated tools means tracking tenants, payments, and vacancies manually — spreadsheets, notebooks, or memory. Following up on late rent, remembering who paid what, and producing a receipt when a tenant asks for one all become manual, repetitive work that takes time away from actually running the property.
Neither side has been well served by the tools available, and the result is a housing search and rental experience that runs almost entirely on trust, screenshots, and manual bookkeeping.
What We're Building
myBoardHub brings the full boarding house experience — from discovery to move-in to monthly rent — into one platform, built specifically around how student housing actually works in the Philippines.
Discovery that's actually comparable. Search boarding houses near a university, filter by price, room type, and amenities, and see real details in one consistent format instead of piecing together scattered posts.
Secure reservations. Reserve a room and pay online through GCash, Maya, or card, instead of sending a deposit to a personal account and hoping it was the right decision. Payments are tracked, timestamped, and tied to your reservation.
Digital rent collection and digital receipts. Instead of chasing payments through chat threads and manual logbooks, rent gets tracked automatically, and both tenants and owners can see a clear digital receipt for every payment — no more digging through old messages to prove you paid.
Dashboards for tenants and hosts. Tenants get a single place to see their reservation, payment history, and lease details. Boarding house owners get a dashboard to manage rooms, tenants, payments, and vacancies — without needing to maintain a separate spreadsheet on the side.
City-based community channels. Beyond the transaction itself, we're building spaces where students in the same city or near the same university can ask questions, share notes, and get a sense of a neighborhood from people who actually live there.
Being Honest About Where We Are
We're a young platform, and some of what's described above is further along than the rest. Core discovery, reservations, and payments are live today. Other pieces — like deeper community features and more advanced host tools — are still being built and refined. We'd rather be upfront about that than oversell a finished product we're not yet at.
What we're confident about is the direction: student housing in the Philippines deserves better tools than a group chat and a notebook, on both sides of the arrangement.
