Community Guidelines
Rules and expectations to keep myBoardHub a safe and respectful community for everyone.
- Treat all members of the community with respect and courtesy
- Communicate professionally in channels, messages, and reviews
- Respect cultural and religious differences
- Be patient — remember that both tenants and owners are real people
- Provide accurate information in your profile and listings
- Post only genuine photos that represent the actual property
- Don't misrepresent amenities, pricing, or availability
- Report any inaccurate or misleading information you encounter
- Stay on topic in city-based discussion channels
- Don't spam or post repetitive messages
- Don't share personal contact information publicly
- Use the roommate matching feature instead of posting "looking for roommate" in channels
The following will result in content removal and possible account suspension:
- Harassment, hate speech, or discrimination
- Fraudulent listings or scam attempts
- Explicit, violent, or illegal content
- Sharing others' personal information without consent
- Spam, phishing, or malicious links
Site visits are real-world commitments. The platform tracks every reschedule proposal and outcome — patterns are visible.
- Owners: only reschedule when genuinely necessary, and give a reason. Tenants can accept the new time or counter-propose from the reservation page.
- Tenants: respond to a reschedule proposal in the app — don't ghost. If you can no longer attend a confirmed visit, cancel ahead of time.
- Two or more BHO-initiated reschedules on a single reservation within 10 days are auto-flagged for review. The owner isn't penalized automatically — an admin reviews the report.
- The reservation fee stays in escrow with myBoardHub from payment until the lease is signed — it's not released to the owner at acceptance or after the site visit. That means tenants are refund-eligible the whole time before contract signing; the exact amount depends on the property's refund policy (and the automatic full-refund overrides — owner reschedule within 24h, owner suspended/banned by the platform).
- Tenants who cancel within 24 hours of a BHO-initiated reschedule receive a full refund of the reservation fee. See the Refund Policy for details.
Reports help us keep the platform safe. You can report another user from the reservation page or by emailing support@myboardhub.com. All open reports are reviewed within a few business days; urgent safety reports are prioritized.
Report categories
- No-show: the owner (or tenant) didn't show up for a confirmed site visit.
- Repeated reschedules: the owner keeps pushing the visit without a clear reason.
- Harassment or unsafe behavior: inappropriate, abusive, or unsafe conduct.
- Suspected fraud: fake listings, off-platform payment requests, identity issues.
- Other: anything else worth our attention — please add details.
What happens after a report
Each report is reviewed by our team. Standard consequences follow a clear ladder:
- First confirmed action: 7-day account suspension.
- Second confirmed action: 14-day suspension.
- Third or severe: permanent ban.
Suspended users can't sign in until the period ends. Banned accounts can't sign in at all. We reserve the right to skip the ladder for serious violations (fraud, safety, threats).
False or malicious reports may themselves count against the reporter — please only submit a report when something genuinely happened.
